for high definition
HD is the latest in a long line of major improvements in television
technology, which has moved from black-and-white analogue
to widescreen colour digital over the last 50 years.
HD gives you exceptionally clear, crisp pictures with vivid
colours and up to five times more detail than standard definition.

More and more programmes are being made in HD and most new
flat-screen televisions (LCD and plasma) are equipped to
show them.
Televisions
that are generally labeled with the HD Ready logo (left) show
an HD picture, either braodcast or from another external source,
Blu-ray, DVD etc, with 720P lines
LCD
and PLASMA TV's that carry the 1080P HD Ready Logo, sometimes
referred to as FULL HD or FULL 1080HD show an HD picture with
1080P lines giving an even higher quality of picture. To get
the full benefit of Blu-ray or Gaming consoles such as Xbox360
or PlayStation3 then a TV with 1080P is a must
